Senior Citizens, at present are associated with two Senior Citizens Home.

• Home for the Aged run by the "Sisters of the Poor"
  (Strength 150)
• Humanitarian Hands (Strength 60 + 90 =150)

To these two Homes we provide help trom time to time as under -

• Facilities like mattresses, bedcovers and so on
• Medicines to some extent, tea bags, coffee packets etc. on as
  required basis
• Old clothes & magazines
• Kitchen items like large cooking vessels, wet grinding machines etc
• Physiotherapy equipment as approved by a qualified physiotherapist

The above activities demand considerable sum of money; at present our sources are -

• Limited amount trom subscriptions trom members
• Very limited contributions trom 2 to 3 NRIs - relatives & friends of members who happened to see our activities

Contributions from all philanthropic persons / organizations around the world are solicited with an assurance that the money received will be judiciously utilized for welfare of underprivileged children & poor Senior Citizens.

All financial transactions are duly authorized by an elected Committee and audited by qualified auditors and submitted to IT department annually.

To facilitate such contributions, following information is given.

Exempt from Income Tax u/s 80G vide order No. DIT (E) / 80G / 511 / W-2 / 05-06 dt.12-12-2005. Issued by Director ofLT (Exemptions), Bangalore.
Present Validity from 28-10-2005 to 31-03-2008.

Donations are received only by crossed Cheques / DDs through Bank To SB Alc. No. 114010100028185, in favor of "Senior Citizens Bangalore."

It has been our experience of the past few years that, with our helpful participation with the schools, following has emerged:

• In addition to better attendance, a sense of competition is instilled in them
• Palpable improvement in th:e.ir personal hygiene / turn out of children
• General Health is improving
• Greater involvement of management of schools & the teachers

Also management of the Senior Citizens Homes are ever so grateful for the efforts & the contributions, though small, made by us.

A sense of "rising to the occasion'" has seen in all our members, which is the sustaining force that binds us. It may be appropriate to mention that "all big things have, invariably, a small beginning" and the lives of these children & Senior Citizens incidentally has given a new meaning to all our lives.

:: About Us ::

All social services / activities are managed by an elected committee consisting of Chairman, President, Finance / Social work committe members.

Social services provided are as under:

• Underprivileged children:
  We have focused our activities in respect of FIVE Schools which cater to 1700 underprivileged children - mostly children of construction workers: house maids & casual laborers, many from slums.

After a detailed study of problems involved vis a vis our present resources, the following plan of action has been evolved:

a. Provision of:

• Shoes, Uniforms, Warm clothing and toys
  
  
• Text books, note books and school bags
  
  
• Aqua guards to provide clean, pure drinking water
  
  
• Ceiling fans for all classrooms
  
  
• Bus pass for needy children
  
  
• Excursion by Bus to places like - Museum, Zoo, Planetarium etc
  
  
• Due to our limited resources, we started with breakfast for children in one school. In view of good results trom this step, we have extended, this to all other children - approximately 1700

b. Arranging Medical Examination to all children in the beginning of the academic session, provision of medicines & we arrange and pay for further treatment where necessary.

c. Provision of computers to all schools in liaison with IT companies; Help in setting up computer rooms; Arranged training for teachers through professional IT experts.

d. Providing scholarships to merited but poor students to continue studies. At present we are giving scholarships to 36 students; we propose to extend this well received and successful effort to 30 more students in future.

e. Facilitating mid-day meals to all 5 schools by donating vessels, payment for additional help etc.
